The manual is written in English and its two aims are:
- to provide professionals with theoretical knowledge and practical tips useful in supporting young parents at various stages of family language planning,
- to provide professionals with ideas and guidance on delivering sessions and/or workshops with the “More Than One Language” reflection booklet for parents, as well as on using the other tools of the project.
The structure of the manual reflects these aims. In Part One we provide an overview of topics of crucial importance for supporting young parents in shaping their Family Language Policy. The information provided in the first part can therefore be used as a self-contained framework for working with multilingual families or as an introduction to the second part of the manual.
In Part Two, we provide a more detailed description of the tools and guidance and ideas on working with the “More Than One Language” reflection booklet for parents, as well as the other tools of the project.
